Fall Kickoff

  • Intermountain Baptist Church 4770 S 1950 W Taylorsville, UT 84129 United States (map)

Agenda

Come enjoy a morning of fellowship, encouragement, and education with other Utah homeschool families as you get ready to kick off your new school year! This year's kickoff features a complimentary breakfast, keynote talk, a breakout session, children's program provided by Child Evangelism Fellowship, a used book sale, and more!

All-Morning Events

Nursery: Provided by volunteers who have been background checked. For babies and toddlers ages 0-3.

Children's Program: Provided by Child Evangelism Fellowship of Utah. Targeted for kids ages 4-14. (High schoolers are free to use the ample outside space to socialize during the event, or may attend sessions with parents.)

UTCH Info Table: UTCH will have a table set up to fill out and submit your 2023-2024 membership application. We will also have a Notice of Intent to Homeschool available for families to fill out, and a notary public will be there to notarize for you on-site. (Utah State Law requires you to submit this Notice to your school district for every child that you are homeschooling the first year that they are homeschooled (by age 6), as well as anytime you change school districts). A UTCH board member will be staffing the table at all times to answer any questions you may have.

9-10am

Complimentary Breakfast: Come spend time getting to know other homeschoolers and fellowshipping. UTCH will provide complimentary coffee and light breakfast.

Used Book Sale: Setup from 8:30-9am, and books will be sold from 9-10am. Please email marianne@utch.org if you would like to reserve a table to sell books or if you have any questions.

10-11am

Welcome & Keynote Address: Presented by Pastor Lucas Manning of Intermountain Baptist Church. Description coming soon.

11am-12pm

Breakout Sessions:

  1. Homeschooling Basics: Come hear from four homeschool moms about how they do it! Cynthia Edwards and Susie Jackson have graduated all their kids (and lived to tell about it), while Robin Manning and Missy Dunn are still in the trenches. Come and hear about their organizational methods, tips for choosing curriculum, the importance of starting out right, and more!

  2. Homeschool Graduates Q&A: Come hear from several UTCH graduates! Homeschooling through high school can be tough, but these graduates are proof that it is worth it. Come ask them about their experience in school, life after homeschooling, and more!

  3. UTCH Graduates 2024 Kickoff Meeting: If you have a student graduating in 2024, come to the kickoff meeting to hear more about graduating with UTCH and get involved!

12pm

Come celebrate UTCH's 30th birthday and enjoy some birthday cake!

12:15pm

Convention 2024 Committee Meeting: If you are interested in (or have already committed to!) serving at the UTCH Convention in April 2024, come find out more about volunteering: the responsibilities, the benefits, and more. You will have our eternal gratitude :)
